This week
Good morning,
This morning we held a Fire Drill at 8.55am. The children were all out very quickly and it was another opportunity for them to be ready for emergencies. Can I remind parents that school start for Classes 1, 2 & 3 at 8.50am and 9.00am for Foundation. There have been a number of later arrivals recently.
There is a Merit assembly in the morning (not quite as long as last week’s!), please come along and join us. There will not be one next week (3rd May) as the Y2 are at a sporting event (details below).
The phone system remains on the diverted line but we are close to being back to normal with our new system. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
SWIMMING - PLEASE REMEMBER THE CHILDREN NEED CLOTHES FOR A WATER SAFETY SESSION TOMORROW
MOVE MORE IN MAY – the SAS (Sturton Ambassador Squad) have got involved with a Bassetlaw initiative called Move More In May. They have put together some ideas and a flyer to promote this. The idea is to get people in Bassetlaw to move more and stay more active. How about parking a little further away and walking, walking all the way to school, cycling/scootering to school etc. The cumulative totals of distances recorded will be collected each Friday (see flyer) and submitted. Let’s see how much more we can all move in May! The classes will be each upping their movement too.
The lunch menu will be Week 3.
Please make bookings for Wraparound Care to office@sturton.notts.sch.uk by 3.30pm on Friday.

The Y2 will need to be in PE kits as they are going to a sports competition at West Lindsey Sports Centre, Gainsborough as part of our Premier Education partnership. They can stay in PE kits all day. A drink and snack should be brought along. We will travel by school minibus and be back for a normal lunch time.
Looking ahead:
There will be no Afterschool Care on the following dates – 23rd May, 13th June, 1st July & 26th July.
Keep the date – Saturday 6th July #SturtonRocks – A Charity Music Festival for Sturton Le Steeple Primary School (supported by The Reindeer). More details will follow but this event will run from 2.30pm until late and will include performances by local bands as well as events organised by the school and PTFA. It will take place near The Reindeer and not at school. All money raised is for school – we are aiming to install an all-weather track around the perimeter of the field that can be used by the children all year round. We hope that the Makaton Choir can open the event and be the first performers on stage! We are looking for sponsorship to help cover costs such as toilets, generator hire, sound system hire etc. If you are or know of any local businesses who might be willing to support this, then please let myself or Chris Jewitt at The Reindeer know.
Have a lovely weekend, the forecasters are saying next week should be warmer!
Regards
Mark
